Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ClearLien LLC (“ClearLien,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the ClearLien service (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information — your name, email, company name, and password (stored only as a secure hash).
  • Project and waiver data — information you enter or import about projects, subcontractors, suppliers, amounts, and waivers.
  • Signer information — for each signature we record the signer’s name and, as part of the legal audit trail, the timestamp, IP address, device/user-agent, and an explicit record of signing intent.
  • Connected accounting data — if you connect QuickBooks Online, we access vendor, customer, bill, and payment records needed to match and generate waivers.
  • Billing information — subscription status and identifiers. Card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Usage and technical data — basic log data such as IP address and browser type for security and reliability.

2. How we use information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the Service, including generating and storing waivers and their audit trails.
  • To detect and match payment activity from connected accounting software.
  • To process subscription payments and send transactional email (such as signing links and account notices).
  • To secure the Service, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate, under contracts limiting their use:

  • Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing.
  • Intuit (QuickBooks Online) — accounting integration, when you connect it.
  • Resend — sending transactional email.
  • Cloudflare — content delivery, email routing, and S3-compatible storage of signed documents.
  • Railway — application hosting and the primary database.
  • Google Analytics — aggregate usage analytics on our public marketing site only.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ClearLien, our customers, or others.

4. Multi-tenant isolation

Each customer’s data is logically isolated and scoped to that customer’s account. We do not provide cross-customer access within the product.

5. Data retention

We retain account and project data for as long as your account is active. Because signed waivers and their audit records have legal and evidentiary value, those documents and signature/audit records are retained on an append-only basis and may be preserved after account closure as needed for legal, compliance, and evidentiary purposes.

6. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, encrypted storage of sensitive integration tokens, tenant scoping, and content-hash integrity for stored documents. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices and rights

You may access or update your account information in the app, and you may cancel your subscription at any time. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete certain personal information; contact us to make a request. Note that signature and audit-trail records may be exempt from deletion where retention is required for legal or evidentiary reasons.

8. Cookies and analytics

The app uses strictly necessary cookies, such as the secure session cookie that keeps you logged in.

Our public marketing site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies and collects usage data such as pages viewed, referring source, approximate (city-level) location, and device and browser type. We use this only in aggregate to improve the site — not to identify you personally — and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block these cookies through your browser or Google’s opt-out tools. Analytics does not run inside the signed-in app.

9. Children

The Service is for business use and is not directed to anyone under 18.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time and will note the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app.
